Akiko Kohgo is a professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo.
She began her career at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2003, where she was engaged in policy planning and international affairs across several divisions. Her previous roles include director of the New Culture and Arts Creation Office at the Agency for Cultural Affairs (2023–2026), where she promoted Japan Cultural Expo, a national initiative to attract international visitors to regional areas by leveraging Japan’s diverse cultural resources.
